Meet the Cadets Team Staff
Trent Eigner
Eigner was previously a head coach in the Western Professional Hockey League for two years, leading his team to the playoff semi-final round in his second year. In 2001, he was honored with the Rick Kozuback Award for exemplifying the qualities of perseverance, determination and commitment to the game, sport and business of hockey.
Eigner’s professional playing career includes 4 years in the Western Professional Hockey League, where he was a team captain and contributed to 2 President’s Cup Championships and 2 years in the East Coast Hockey League. He played Division I hockey for Miami of Ohio from 1990 to 1994, helping the Red Hawks win a CCHA championship and NCAA tournament berth in 1993. He served as alternate captain in the 1992-93 season, and team captain in 1993-1994. Prior to college hockey, he played juniors for the USHL Madison Capitals and high school hockey for Rosemount.
Greg Monahan
Mono has been with the STA coaching staff since 2007. He will be Junior Varsity head coach this year in addition to Goalie coach. From 1978-81, Mono played hockey at STA, capping his high school experience by attaining All-Conference honors in both 1980 and 1981 and serving as the team’s captain in 1981. Mono began his coaching career in 1986 as the Men’s JV coach at the University of St. Thomas. In the many years since, he has coached at every level from squirts to college. The Monahans are no strangers to STA hockey with family players having included his brother Mike (’78), father Denny (’53 and STA Athletic Hall of Fame), and uncles George (’51) and Jack (’49).
Andrew Commers
Andrew has been on our coaching staff since 2015. He will primarily be working with the JV program. He is a graduate of St. John’s University (‘15) where he was a three-year letter winner and captain his senior year. Andrew is also a product of the STA program where he played 4 years (2009-2012), winning State Championships in 2011, 2012. He is currently working in commercial real estate for Cushman & Wakefield/ NorthMarq.
Jim Kilburg
Skate Technician
"Killer" has been a dedicated member of the staff since 2005. When he is not sharpening skates he is putting out fires and saving lives as a 29 year member of the City of Mendota Heights Fire Department.
