After a successful season last winter, St. Thomas Academy will again form one or two middle school hockey teams this year based on the amount of interest from our current 6th , 7th and 8th grade student athletes.

Our team/teams are called the Junior Cadets and will play in the famed 75+ year old Catholic Athletic Association against other Catholic grade schools from the area.

Coach Mark Strobel stated

“We could not be more thrilled with the participation from last year and we look forward to watching the 2024/2025 Junior Cadets build friendships and grow their passion for the game.”

Coach Mark Strobel encourages these kids to “have fun, work hard and dream big.”

The Catholic Athletic Association plays its games primarily outside on well- maintained rinks at Groveland REC Center in St. Paul and Northdale REC Center in North Saint Paul with a couple indoor games throughout the season at Augsburg in Minneapolis. All games are typically scheduled after school, early on Wednesday evenings and the season begins in early January and runs through the end of February.

This historic Catholic Hockey League is a great opportunity for young Cadets to be able to foster relationships and have fun with their classmates while growing their passion for the game and their pride of being a Cadet!

More information about this upcoming season will be announced soon.

Good luck to all Cadets in this upcoming Middle School hockey season!
